During the meeting Gian Chand Gupta also demanded for the setting up of a defense equipment manufacturing industry on HMT land in Pinjore. Detailed discussion was also held regarding the defence equipment manufacturing industry and a defense park. Gupta informed the Union Minister that after the setting up of this project, Panchkula would be recognized as a hub of assembling helicopter and aeroplane parts.

Gupta also elaborated on the practicality and utility of the proposed defence equipment manufacturing industry in Pinjore. He said that with this, about 800 acres of the land of the HMT unit closed due to heavy losses would be properly utilized. Apart from this, the place has strategic importance as it is situated on the national highway of Ambala-Kalka-Shimla and Ladakh.

He said that the headquarters of the Western Command of the Indian Army is also located near Chandimandir. Apart from this, Bharat Electronics Limited (Bell) in Panchkula, DRDO Institute at Ramgarh, Basic Training Center (BTC) of Indo Tibetan Border Police Force situated at Bhanu (Panchkula), DIG office of CRPF at Pinjore are such other establishments which are directly or indirectly associated with Indian Armed Forces and Defence. Also, the area is surrounded by prominent health and educational institutes like PGIMER, Punjab University, Punjab Engineering College etc. The IIT Ropar and a large number of private engineering colleges are also located in the adjoining areas of Chandigarh.
