China and Pakistan again raked up the J&K issue in a joint statement, following a meeting between Chinese foreign minister Qin Gang and his Pakistan counterpart Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
In the statement, they reiterated their position that the Kashmir issue should be properly and peacefully resolved in accordance with “the UN Charter, relevant Security Council resolutions and bilateral agreements”. They also opposed any unilateral action that could complicate the “already volatile situation”.
While there was no official response from India, sources reiterated India’s position that neither side had a locus standi on the issue and that J&K is and will always remain an integral part of India.
