Police said the survivor was sitting with a friend in a park in Koramangala when one of the accused came and picked a fight with her friend, asking him why he was sitting with her. The woman pacified both and told her friend that she knew the other man and would walk back home with him. As he left, the accused called three other friends of his, who arrived in a car. The took her and sped away. According to the survivor, the four men misbehaved with her in the moving car. When she resisted, they slapped her, overpowered her and took turns raping her, she said.

The accused drove the car till Attibele near Anekal, a suburb some 30km from where they picked her up, before returning to the city.
Around 4 am, the four men dropped the survivor home and drove away. Police said the traumatised and injured woman was shifted to a hospital by her parents. Two days later, after the girl was discharged, they filed a complaint with Koramangala police. All four accused were arrested within eight hours of receiving the complaint.
They were identified as Sateesh Kumar (24), Kiran Kumar (23) – room boys with a private hotel – Vijay Kumar (24), a tele caller with a BPO, and Sreedhar (22), an electrician.
“They (the accused) reside near my area and that’s why I didn’t suspect their intention,” police quoted the survivor as saying. As per the survivor’s statement, the accused raped her when the car was being driven from Koramangala to Attibele, in Bengaluru Rural district, and on the way back.
