Rahul Gandhi: No one in family of Rahul Gandhi can compete with Savarkar: Union minister Giriraj Singh | India News – Times of India

PATNA: Firebrand BJP leader and Union minister Giriraj Singh on Sunday said no one in the family of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, including his father Rajiv Gandhi, his grandmother Indira Gandhi and grandfather Feroze Gandhi, could compete with the patriotism of freedom fighter-turned-Hindutva ideologue Vinayak Damodar Savarkar.
Responding to a media query at the BJP office here, Singh also said Rahul Gandhi would have to take many births to understand the philosophy of Veer Savarkar.
Asked for his reaction over Rahul Gandhi’s Saturday statement that “My name is not Savarkar, my name is Gandhi and Gandhi does not offer an apology to anyone,” the Union minister said, “What to talk about Rahul Gandhi, even his father – who is no more and I should not comment on him, his grandmother Indira JI who is no more and even his grandfather Feroze Gandhi; entire ‘Kunba’ of Gandhi family, could not compete with Veer Savarkar.”
The Begusarai MP also said Rahul Gandhi should first visit Cellular jail in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands to understand Savarkar. “Still, he would have to take many births to understand the philosophy of Savarkar,” he said. Singh also took a swipe at Rahul Gandhi for forgetting his grandfather Feroze Gandhi.
The Union minister further said that Bihar CM Nitish Kumar’s “silence” over the disqualification of Rahul Gandhi indicated that the JD(U) leader was happy over his increased chances of claiming leadership of the opposition camp at the national level.
“He (Nitish) must be happy that his chances have become brighter. After all, competing ambitions for the elusive top post has become the defining trait of all parties (opposed to the BJP),” Singh said.
Earlier while talking to media persons in Muzaffarpur on Saturday, Singh said Rahul Gandhi was disqualified from the Lok Sabha because he was cursed by RJD president Lalu Prasad for tearing the ordinance which was meant to protect convicted lawmakers from immediate disqualification.
“Rahul Ji, you have been cursed by Lalu Prasad JI. Now you (reporters) will ask how Rahul is cursed by Lalu Ji. …. Lalu Prasad’s membership (from the Lok Sabha) was set to be revoked when the order in the fodder scandal arrived. Lalu JI wanted to meet Rahul but he did not meet Lalu at that time considering himself an honest person. As shown in the media, Rahul tore the ordinance before media persons. Then, Lalu ji cursed and said- whatever you have done to me, will happen to you too,” said Singh.
